Depends where you got the tickets initially. Different jurisdictions will not cash other jurisdictions tickets.
References :
It varies track to track, but within six months of the end of a race meet is likely as not. Certainly you can hold onto it until the Preakness.
References :
Bobbo is not right. You can cash a ticket for another track if that track 1.) is taken by the the one you are at and 2.) the track where the race took place at is open. For instance I have bought tickets at Hollywood Park and cashed them at Los Alamitos, I just had to do it while Hollywood Park was open for wagering. The two tracks have to electronically communicate, so the other must at least be open for simulcast wagering at the time you go.

It depends on the state, In NY you have until March 31st of the following year to cash in your tickets. I doubt any state would make you cash in under 14 days so you should be ok if you wait til the Preakness
References :
You can wait until Preakness..you have plenty of time 3 to 15 months depending on when and where you placed your bet...If I win I always wait to the next stake race to cash it...very smart. OTB rules or ibet rules are as followed:

A pari-mutuel winning ticket may be cashed until the last day of March following the year it was purchased, thus a ticket has a 'life' of from 3 months to 15 months. On April 1, unclaimed tickets, applicable to the preceding calendar year are distributed to New York State. Click on link below for information on wagering...Once in site on left side you'll see menu of options, scroll down and click on Basics of Wagering, then click on FAQ (frequently asked questions). This will be very helpful...and will be the same as my answer since it's my source..Congratulations on your win!

Usually they will honor winning tickets for thirty days. So you should not have any problems cashing them in. Good luck
References :
Horse owner and breeder

How many days do I have to claim winning horse racing ticket?
I have a few winning tickets for the Kentucky Derby, but I was going to wait until I go for the Preakness to claim them.
