Did you know that it’s possible for a losing Las Vegas sports bettor to be a winning online sports bettor? It’s true and I’ve seen it happen with my own two eyes. Sure, online sports betting is convenient, but there’s an even greater advantage online sportsbooks give to sports bettors that those brick and mortar sportsbooks don’t.

Just what in the heck am I talking about? It’s no secret anymore. Online sportsbooks frequently offer bonuses to new and returning players. These bonuses can turn you into a winner if you use them right. My first tip would be to sign up for more than online sportsbook. But wait! Don’t join any online sportsbook unless you can max out the bonus being offered.

The “join bonus” is a one-time event. The worst thing you can do is to perform a little or partial deposit and lose out on all that free money. So, if the online sportsbook is offering new players a 15% bonus with a $500 maximum deposit, wait until you can deposit $500—or pretty darn close. In that example, your $500 deposit will lead to a free cash bonus of $75. Before you place your first wager, you’re ahead by $75.

Here’s another piece of advice. Some online sportsbooks are notorious for making you do far too much to earn your free cash bonus. Before you jump in bed with any online sportsbook, check out the details on the bonus being offered. See if their requirements sit ok with you. If not, find another online sportsbook.

Another item you want to check before sending cash to any online sportsbook is the reload bonus. Make sure the online sportsbook offers a nice reload bonus. If they don’t, find another online sportsbook. There are plenty of online sportsbooks out there that offer reload bonuses. Again, check the terms of the reload bonus.

A good rule of thumb is to look for online sportsbooks that offer reload bonuses of 10 percent or more. Additionally, many will offer cash-back bonuses on certain types of wagering, such as horse racing wagering. As for the initial cash bonus, look for an online sportsbook that offers at least 15 percent. Many will offer more, but the ones that offer less aren’t worth your time.

Online sportsbooks are a goldmine of free cash bonuses. This is something that you won’t find at a brick and mortar casino. Sure, sometimes they run special promotions, but they’ll never give you free cash just for making an initial deposit with them. These bonuses are all over out there, so take advantage of them and increase your bankroll today.

  1. Gypsy Soul Said,

Does anyone know which online sportsbooks provide the odds in the more obscure college football games? thanks?
For example, Yale vs Harvard, Amherst College vs Williams College.

  3. Ken Said,

You’re not going to find those lines, and there are quite a few reasons for this. Chief among them, who exactly is going to bet on these games? They’re not nationally televised, so probably only people with a lot of knowledge of those teams is going to do it. From that perspective, the book is already at a disadvantage.

Additionally, those games are easier to fix. Pay the QB of NoNameDivisionIIISchool $500 and he might throw a couple of incomplete passes. Those incomplete passes might change the entire outcome of a game. In fact, you’ll hear about this type of system – point shaving – every so often, usually in college basketball at very small schools. Why run the risk of putting up lines for a fixed game? No point.

Books used to offer lines on these, but the limits were so small that it wasn’t really worth it. $100 max bet, things like that (i.e. versus a $10k max bet on regular college football). So few people bet on them that it wasn’t worth the time and effort to research what the correct lines should be.

So for all of these reasons and probably a few more, you’re not going to find lines on these games. If you live near one of these schools, perhaps a local bookie will give you a line. Online? Nope, lines won’t be up.

Your only option would be to email a book and ask them if they will give you a line on a game you want to play. They’ll probably take 3 points off of what they think it should be just because they’ll think you’re in on something, but hey, it’s worth a shot.
